A hip-hop disc jockey who was fired for making threatening racial and sexual remarks about a rival’s wife and four-year-old daughter will return to the FM airwaves, a public relations firm said yesterday.
DJ Star, whose real name is Troi Torain, and his half brother, Timothy Joseph, or Buc Wild, will host a morning show on a city FM station, a representative for 5W Public Relations, Bryan Pierce, said. The name of the station, which was being represented by 5W, would not be disclosed before a Wednesday news conference, Mr. Pierce said.
In May 2006, Mr. Torain, who was co-host of the syndicated “Star & Buc Wild Morning Show” on Clear Channel Radio’s Power 105.1 FM, offered $500 to any listener who could provide information about the rival DJ’s daughter’s school and used racial slurs when talking about his wife, who is part Asian. He threatened to sexually abuse the daughter and urinate on her.
A telephone message left for Torain’s lawyer, James Cinque, was not immediately returned yesterday. There was no listed phone number for Mr. Torain’s Pennsylvania home.
A spokeswoman for Clear Channel Radio said yesterday that Mr. Torain would not be returning to any of its stations.
