A runaway horse pulling a carriage was seriously injured near Central Park after sprinting out of control into a tree, police said.

The horse went on its rampage at about 4:50 p.m. on Central Park South and reportedly caused a traffic accident. No humans were injured, police said.

After witnessing the accident several New Yorkers called 911. One person reported the horse looked dead. Another said that two other horses were injured in the incident.
