Police are investigating an alleged murder suicide in the Bronx involving an off-duty police officer and a 19-year-old woman, police officials said.

Investigators believe that the officer, 40, who was not identified, shot the female victim multiple times in the head and body before shooting himself in the head, police said.

Police found a pistol next to the bodies inside 3611 Henry Hudson Pkwy. at about 1 p.m. yesterday in the Riverdale section of the Bronx, police said.

Both the officer and the victim, who was not identified, were pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The officer had been on the force for six years and was assigned to the police precinct in the Washington Heights section of Manhattan, police said.
