Police are adding resources to the investigation of a spate of armed Manhattan taxi robberies after the suspect struck again late Tuesday night, Commissioner Raymond Kelly said yesterday.
The suspect robbed a taxi driver on West 39th Street at about 11 p.m. on Tuesday, police said, making it the eighth time he has held up a taxi driver in Manhattan in the last two weeks.
” We’re asking cabbies to be aware,” Mr. Kelly said.
Taxi drivers are being advised by police to turn on the special panic lights that are located on the trunks of all taxis if the suspect is inside the vehicle, Mr. Kelly said.
