The company behind rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs’ Sean John clothing line, Christian Casey, is accusing a national chain of discount stores of selling counterfeit garments since at least last summer.

The suit, filed in Manhattan Federal Court yesterday, says Family Dollar Stores is harming Mr. Combs’ “stylized” brand sold in stores like Bloomingdale’s, Macy’s and Fred Segal, by hawking knockoffs that don’t meet Sean John’s “exacting standards.” The suit, which is seeking damages, attorney fees and an injunction, calls the behavior of Family Dollar “despicable.” A corporate spokeswoman for Family Dollar in North Carolina, Kiley Rawlins, said the company doesn’t comment on pending litigation.
