The widow of one of the two brothers who fell 47 stories from their window-washing platform on the Upper East Side is suing the building’s owner, Solow Management, and the company that installed the scaffolding, Tractel Incorporated.
Edgar Morenos was killed last December after his scaffolding collapsed, sending him and his brother, Alcidies Morenos, plummeting 500 feet to the street.
Alcidies, who survived the fall, filed a suit last month.
Edilma Cumbicos, the widow of the deceased, is seeking an amount roughly equivalent to the salary her husband would have ultimately earned in his lifetime, according to a lawyer for Ms. Cumbicos, Jeffrey Antin.
Tractel Incorporated and Solow Management are accused of being “careless, reckless, negligent” and having acted “with gross negligence,” according to the lawsuit filed yesterday in New York State court in Manhattan.
“This matter has been referred to our insurance carriers and their representatives,” a spokesman for Solow Management, Michael Gross, said. “We are cooperating thoroughly with all official agencies and parties involved in this manner.”
Representatives from Tractel could not be reached for comment last night.
