With 2,500 Ideas, Public Lays Out Vision for City

New Yorkers have no shortage of ideas for what they want the city to look like in 2030. Since Mayor Bloomberg launched a public campaign to solicit opinions, New Yorkers have posted 2,500 suggestions on the city’s Web site.
The ideas — which range from converting all homes to solar power to using electric cars and buses —will be reviewed as the Bloomberg administration hammers out its final “sustainability plan.”
In December, Mr. Bloomberg outlined a sweeping set of energy and infrastructure goals to prepare the city for the massive population boom expected in the next 25 years. Later this month, the administration will be holding another round of town-hall style meetings.
