NEW YORK SUN CONTRIBUTOR

Tony Award Productions, a joint venture of the League of American Theatres and Producers and the American Theatre Wing, awarded the 2005 Tony Awards at Radio City Music Hall last night. The Pulitzer Prize-winning “Doubt” won Best New Play. “Monty Python’s Spamalot” won Best Musical. “The Light in the Piazza” swept up with six Tonys. A special Tony Award for lifetime achievement in the theater was given to Edward Albee. The winners are indicated in italics.
