When the Chelsea–Flatiron area was in need of something fresh for kids, former television executives and New York moms Allison Schlanger and Alison Berna developed just what the neighborhood needed. A newly opened 15,000-square-foot playground, Apple Seeds, is sure to become an instant favorite.
The indoor facility boasts classrooms (for music, yoga, science, and cooking, to name a few), a café, clothing boutique, a space for birthday parties, a library, and a vast play area. Apple Seeds also has nine permanent “exhibits” in which rambunctious tots can play, including construction city, the apartment, and the park. Designed by the production firm responsible for the look of Manhattan’s Children’s Museum, the playground offers something for children from infancy to age five. Moreover, Apple Seeds remains all day for members — the perfect refuge on cold or rainy days.
