METS PUT GREEN ON 15-DAY DL
Mets outfielder Shawn Green went on the 15-day disabled list yesterday because of a broken right foot, the first time he’s been on the DL in his major league career.
New York recalled outfielder Ben Johnson from Triple-A New Orleans before last night’s game against San Francisco.
Green fouled a ball off his foot on Friday, and the move was made retroactive to Saturday. The Mets expect Green will be able to begin running in about 10 days.
The 34-year-old Green started his big league career in 1993. He is hitting .314 with five home runs and 22 RBIs this season.

DEATH OF PATRIOTS’ HILL RULED ACCIDENTAL DROWNING
The death of New England Patri ots defensive end Marquise Hill who fell off a jet ski in Lake Pontchartrain, was ruled an accidental drowning yesterday.
An autopsy found no signs of drug or alcohol in Hill’s body, although more tests are planned and will take two weeks to complete, said Orleans Parish coroner Dr. Frank Minyard. Minyard said Hill might have suffered a mild concussion when he fell off the water craft.
“He might of hit the right side of his face above the eye when he fell off the craft,” Minyard said. “He had a pretty nasty bruise there.”

KANSAS’S RUSH WILL UNDERGO KNEE SURGERY
Kansas guard Brandon Rush, who withdrew last week from the NBA draft, will have surgery to repair torn ligaments and be sidelined up to six months.
Kansas coach Bill Self said Rush will have surgery either later this week or next week. The Jayhawks’ leading scorer injured his right knee in a pickup game last week when he landed awkwardly.
