Tonight at the U.S. Open, talented lefty Rafael Nadal takes on Andy Roddick in Arthur Ashe stadium. Nadal is only 18, but Roddick has sung his praises this year. Before the two young stars take the court, Serena Williams plays her third match. During the day, Lleyton Hewitt and Jennifer Capriati look to move into the fourth round.

As the Open moves into the Labor Day Weekend, Roddick and Hewitt should move closer to an eventual semifinal meeting. In the other half of the men’s draw, Carlos Moya is a favorite to advance through the weekend, with his toughest match perhaps coming against Paradorn Srichaphan. Now that Nicolas Massu and Taylor Dent are out, Andre Agassi should have an easier road to a quarterfinal against Roger Federer.

For the women, Justine Henin-Hardenne will face Lisa Raymond and perhaps Nadia Petrova before meeting Maria Sharapova in the quarterfinals – if Sharapova doesn’t falter. Now that Anastasia Myskina is out of the tournament, Lindsay Davenport has one less star to beat on the road to the semifinals, though she’ll likely still have to get by Venus Williams.

Serena Williams, meanwhile, should have no trouble reaching the quarterfinals. Will Capriati meet her there? She hasn’t been playing great, but she should still advance. Look for Amelie Mauresmo and Elena Dementieva to advance as well.
