Cosby Donates Cosby Sweaters

Three of the famous patterned sweaters worn by Bill Cosby in episodes of “The Cosby Show” will be auctioned off to benefit a charity established in memory of the comedian’s late son, Reuters reported Thursday.
“My mother and father were going through a storage closet, and I happened to be there and pounced on these sweaters,” Mr. Cosby’s daughter, Evin Cosby, told Reuters. “I told them that the price of what some of these sweaters might sell for could make a big difference in the lives of thousands of children.”
The proceeds from the sale of the iconic sweaters, which became the object of ironic affection during the show’s run, will benefit the Hello Friend/Ennis William Cosby Foundation, which Mr. Cosby established in 1997 after his son was murdered while changing a flat tire on the shoulder of a Los Angeles freeway. “The Cosby Show” was an NBC mainstay from 1984 to 1992.
The auction will be held on the Web site eBay from June 2-12. Opening bids have been set at $5,000 a sweater.
