Jonathan Demme will take the reins of an untitled Bob Marley documentary after Martin Scorsese left the project for scheduling reasons, Variety reported Thursday.

In February, Mr. Scorsese had announced that the film, which is being produced jointly by the Marley family’s Tuff Gong Pictures and Shangri-La Entertainment, would be the follow-up to his Rolling Stones documentary, “Shine a Light,” released earlier this year. Producers hope the film will be released in 2010, to coincide with the 65th anniversary of the reggae musician’s birth.
