Joseph Kaiser will make his Metropolitan Opera debut October 3, taking over from tenor Rolando Villazon opposite Anna Netrebko in Gounod’s “Romeo et Juliette.”
Mr. Kaiser also will sing at the Met on October 6 and October 11. The Met announced last week that Roberto Alagna would sing on September 25 and September 29 in place of Mr. Villazon, who has canceled several months’ of performances.
Mr. Kaiser had been scheduled to sing Steva in Janacek’s “Jenufa” at the Los Angeles Opera from September 27 to October 13. He was released from those performances to sing at the Met.
The general director of the Los Angeles Opera, Placido Domingo, will conduct Mr. Kaiser’s performances in “Romeo et Juliette” at the Met.
