Northern New Jersey is one of the most crowded areas in America, which is why almost every memorable event that occurs in “The Sopranos” happens within a few miles of the last one. Here’s a look at some of the major spots in series creator David Chase’s gang land.

1) The Bada Bing
Lodi, N.J.

This strip bar in Lodi is owned and chiefly operated by Silvio Dante, Tony Soprano’s consigliere. Tony’s office is in the back room of the Bing, where the Soprano Family often conducts business, leaving the pleasure to the dance floor.

2) Satriale’s Pork Store
Kearny, N.J.

In the 1960s, Satriale’s was taken over by Tony Soprano’s father, John, and other associates of the DiMeo Crime Family when Mr. Satriale failed to make payments on a gambling debt and committed suicide. Since then, it has become a regular hangout for current members of the Gualtieri and Soprano crews. Satriale’s runs a legitimate business, selling a variety of meats, pork and sausage. It also has a coffee bar that sells pastries and espresso.

3) Skyway Diner
Kearny, N.J.

Located beneath the Pulaski Skyway, this low-key diner was frequently used by Soprano crew captain Christopher Moltisanti to conduct business. That is, until he was shot and almost killed by two underlings, Matthew Bevilaqua and Sean Gismonte, who wanted to speed their promotions. Both now sleep with the fishes.

4) Boonton Projects
Boonton, N.J.

After dropping out of Rutgers University, Giacomo Michael “Jackie” Aprile, Jr., son of late Soprano boss Jackie Sr, tries his hand at the family business. But after his attempt to stick up a family card game goes terribly awry, he’s forced into hiding in the rough-and-tumble Boonton Projects. Not for long: The Sopranos track him down and kill him in Boonton.

5) Soprano Family Household
North Caldwell, N.J.

The king’s castle is located on a quiet cul-de-sac in North Caldwell, N.J., a long way (in scale if not in distance) from his birthplace in urban Newark. Little does Tony know that the feds aren’t the only ones watching as he lumbers down the driveway each morning to pick up his Star-Ledger newspaper.

6) NJIT Hospital
Newark, N.J.

Not far from Tony’s birthplace, Newark’s NJIT Hospital cares for Tony after he is shot in the abdomen by his uncle Junior, who mistakes Tony for an old rival in a bout of a dementia.

7) Dr. Melfi’s Office
Montclair N.J.

Besides his house and the Bada Bing, Tony spends most of his time in the office of his therapist, Jennifer Melfi, who once prophetically told her favorite patient that “the center cannot hold.” The office, located on Bloomfield Avenue in Montclair, is a mystery from the outside, but it’s round interior is well known to Jerseyites.

8) Nuovo Vesuvio
Elizabeth, N.J.

Restaurateur Artie Bucco, a childhood friend of Tony’s, is always happy to host the family for a meal at his upscale place. Of course, he wasn’t thrilled to learn that Tony burned it to the ground to prevent a hit from occurring there. And his forays into Tony’s professional life have only strained the friendship.

9) Livia Soprano’s House
Verona, N.J.

Scheming family matriarch Livia Soprano derived little pleasure from life other than making the people around her miserable, especially her three children. She even tried to manipulate her brother-in-law, Junior, into putting out a hit on her own son, Tony, after the latter tried to put her in a nursing home. Unsurprisingly, Tony came to view his mother’s house as some incarnation of hell.

10) Crazy Horse Club
Long Branch, N.J.

After growing up around mobsters and eventually becoming engaged to Christopher, Adriana La Cerva wanted to have a business of her own, so Chris set her up as the manager of Crazy Horse club. Christopher didn’t like the drugs that filtered through the club, but never turned down the money they brought in.

11) South Mountain Reservation
West Orange, Maplewood, Millburn, N.J.

This scenic state park was the last place that Adriana ever saw. After months of reluctantly feeding information to the FBI, Adriana tried to convince Chris to go into hiding together. He initially agreed, but when he had a change of heart, Adriana soon found herself crawling through the trees to escape an assassin’s fire.
