The former New York Stock Exchange chairman, Richard Grasso, yesterday asked an appeals court to reinstate his lawsuit accusing the exchange’s ex-compensation chief, H. Carl McCall, of mishandling his pay package. A lower court judge in Manhattan dismissed Mr. Grasso’s lawsuit in August, ruling the former chairman failed to show any special duty owed him by Mr. McCall, who headed the panel that approved his pay package in August 2003. Disclosure of his compensation led to Mr. Grasso’s resignation.
