Mother Sues; Claims Bedbugs Bit

One family’s vacation last summer turned into a bloody bedbug nightmare after a Mexican mother and two sons awoke to find themselves covered with bites during a stay at the Fairfield Inn Anaheim Disneyland Resort in California, according to a lawsuit filed yesterday in New York State Supreme Court.
Maria Eunice Juarez Bedoya is seeking unspecified damages for herself and two sons, Miguel Santos and Alan Santos, from Marriott International, the franchisee, and the franchise itself.
The assistant general manager of the hotel, Karlyn Bretz, said the hotel hasn’t received a copy of the lawsuit. “We are definitely aware of the incident and the guest, and nothing is more important than our guests’ welfare,” Ms. Bretz said, noting that the hotel paid for medical treatment of the bites.
Ms. Juarez Bedoya’s lawyer, Alan Schnurman, called the hotel’s account “false” and claimed the hotel didn’t pay the medical bills. The Juarez Bedoya/Santos clan later sought an examination at the Sanatorio de la Davina Hospital in Mexico, Mr. Schnurman said.
