WORLD TRAVELER
Allen Frame photographs his friends and acquaintances in situa tions that are not fully staged but not as casual as they appear at first glance, ei ther. An exhibit at Gitterman Gallery collects photographs from Mr. Frame’s last 10 years of work, including images from Europe, Russia, and Mexico. NEED FOR SPEED
Paintings and works on paper by Julie Speed are on display in the artist’s first solo show in New York in al most 15 years. Ms. Speed uses Renais sance and neoclassical techniques in her traditional oil paintings. Singer-song writer Shawn Colvin named her Grammy Award-winning album “A Few Small Repairs” (1996) after a painting by Ms Speed, which she used to illustrate the album’s cover.
