BRAIN SCAN “Systemsanderrors,” the first solo show by Philadelphia artist Jim Houser, opens this weekend. The installation is intended to “create a map of the contents of his head over the course of a particular period of time” – a period during which he apparently thought a lot about elephants, wordplay, and unusual plants. Mr. Houser, a sometimes graphic designer, is a founding member of the Philadelphia art collective Space 1026. At left is “A Supply of Water” (2005) and above is “Quiet Here” (2005). In the gallery’s second space, new work by A.J. Fosik and Daniel Peacock goes on display. Reception: Saturday, 6-9 p.m. Exhibit: Through Saturday, August 13, Tuesday-Saturday, 11 a.m.-6 p.m., Jonathan LeVine Gallery, 529 W. 20th St., between Tenth Avenue and the West Side Highway, no. 9E, 212-243-3822, free.
