PROMINENT PAINTER The painter John Currin signs copies of his new self-titled monograph (Rizzoli), in conjunction with an exhibit of recent paintings at the Gagosian Gallery. Mr. Currin is known for his radical, sexual themes as well as his calmer portraits, including one of his young son. MISS POTTER The Tribeca Cinemas Gallery presents an exhibit in honor of the children’s book author and illustrator Beatrix Potter, which depicts the life of the creator of the Peter Rabbit tales, among others, through photographs and her own illustrations.
