SWING UNDER THE STARS New Yorkers can kick up their heels at tonight’s kickoff of the Midsummer Night Swing series. A raised wooden platform is in place on Lincoln Center’s Josie Robertson Plaza and all are invited to dance the night away, accompanied tonight by the swinging Nelson Riddle Orchestra. Upcoming musical guests include the Stardusters Big Band presenting a tribute to Artie Shaw (Tuesday), Terrance Simien & the Zydeco Experience (Friday, June 24), and, as part of Lincoln Center’s gay pride celebration, the Village People (Wednesday, June 22). Each installment of the summer-long series begins with a 45-minute dance lesson taught by an expert. Tonight, 6:30 p.m. lesson, 7:30 p.m. music and dancing, Lincoln Center, Josie Robertson Plaza, Broadway and 64th Street, 212-721-6500, $15.


DAY BREAKS Choreographer Sarah Michelson presents her new quartet “Daylight.” The performance was postponed in January when Ms. Michelson broke a bone in her right foot. Through Sunday, June 26, tonight-Saturday and Tuesday, June 21-Saturday, June 25, 8 p.m., Sundays, 5 p.m., Performance Space 122, 150 First Ave. at 9th Street, 212-477-5288, $18.
