MUSEUM MILES
During Spring Break for New York City public schools, many Lower Manhattan museums offer free admission to children. Participants include the New York City Police Muse 502 1185 613 1195um (100 Old Slip, between Water and South streets, 212-480-3100), the South Street Seaport Museum (12 Fulton St. at Front Street, 212-748-8600), and the Fraunces Tavern Museum (54 Pearl St. at Broad Street, 212-425-1778). HAPPY BIRTHDAY, HANS
The New York Public Library celebrates the 200th birthday of Hans Christian Andersen with a monthlong festival of storytelling, music, and art. Highlights this week: Marilyn Berg Iarusso reads the early stories “The Tinderbox” and “The Real Princess” (tomorrow, 4 p.m., St. George Branch, 5 Central Ave. at Hyatt Street, Staten Island, 718-442-8560, free) and storyteller Diane Wolkstein reads from Andersen’s work accompanied by original music by violinist Michael Braudy (Thursday, 6:30 p.m., Donnell Library Center Children’s Room, 20 W. 53rd St., between Fifth and Sixth avenues, 212-621-0636, free).
