POUND PUPPIES A new director’s cut of Robert Downey’s rarely seen cult film “Pound” (1970) is having its theatrical premiere run. The strange story involves a pack of dogs in a Greenwich Village pound, chatting and mating together before their execution. The film includes the acting debut of a very young Robert Downey Jr.; he plays a puppy. Through Thursday, 7 p.m. and 9 p.m., Anthology Film Archives, 32 Second Ave. at 2nd Street, 212-505-5181, $8 general, $6 seniors and students, $5 members.
PICTURE SHOW IN THE PARK The Central Park Conservancy hosts the third annual Central Park Film Festival, in which movies inspired by Central Park are screened there.The festival kicks off with “Almost Famous,” Cameron Crowe’s coming-of-age film (tonight), and continues 928 1357 1018 1367with Dustin Hoffman in “Marathon Man” (tomorrow); the 1953 MGM musical “The Band Wagon,” starring Fred Astaire (Thursday); and the family flick “The Muppets Take Manhattan” (Friday). The festival concludes with the premiere of “Little Manhattan,” a romantic comedy starring young actor Josh Hutcherson (Saturday). All screenings begin at 8 p.m., Central Park, Rumsey Playfield, East 69th Street off Fifth Avenue, 212-310-6600, free.
SING ALONG The Film Society of Lincoln Center presents “I Love To Singa,” a series of screenings devoted to the art of animation. Highlights include “Musical Mice,” a compilation of classic cartoons featuring Mickey and Minnie Mouse; “Fantasia,” Walt Disney’s musical set to Bach, Beethoven, and Tchaikovsky; and “The Triplets of Belleville,” the 2003 French hit.
