STERNER STUFF
Michael Stern, the son of violinist Isaac Stern, conducts a concert tonight in Carnegie Hall’s Isaac Stern Auditorium, named for his father. The concert is an 80th-birthday celebration of Mr. Stern’s alma mater, Philadelphia’s Curtis Institute of Music. The Curtis Symphony Orchestra performs a program that includes Bartok’s “Miraculous Mandarin,” Sibelius’s Symphony No. 2, and the New York premiere of Richard Danielpour’s “In the Arms of the Beloved,” which was written for and will be performed by husband-and-wife musicians Jaime Laredo and Sharon Robinson. Tonight, 8 p.m., Carnegie Hall, Isaac Stern Auditorium, 881 Seventh Ave. at 57th Street, 212-247-7800, $15-$75.
ELEVATOR MUSIC
The Archives Listening Project is a monthly gathering devoted to “obscure, lost, or forgotten” musicians and albums. Up next is an evening devoted to “The Psychedelic Sounds of …,” a compilation of the best of the 1960s Texas band 13th Floor Elevators.
