DABBLERS The Cornelia Street Cafe presents “2 Musicians With Interesting Day Jobs.” Specifically, the two are professor and author William Zinsser and New Yorker cartoonist Arnold Ross, playing piano and saxophone. UNPLUGGED ORIGINALS The C-Note presents the New Century Showcase, which invites singer-songwriters to perform their compositions. Martha Fletcher, Chuck Schiele, and Sasha Dobson perform acoustic work, while Pamela Means and David Ullman play jazz pieces. ON THE HORN The Festival of New Trumpet Music kicks off its third annual trumpeting to-do with a performance by the Bill Dixon Trio, with Mr. Dixon on trumpet, Glynis Loman on cello, and Borah Bergman on piano (tonight, 7:30 p.m., Jazz Standard, 116 E. 27th St., between Park and Lexington avenues). The festival showcases more than 45 trumpeters from around the world, playing in almost as many styles. Upcoming highlights: Bobby Bradford’s Tete-a-Tete (Friday), Ted Daniel and IBMC (August 12), and the Ray Vega Latin Jazz Quintet (August 15). FABULOUS FOUR The St. George Theatre presents “Beatlemania Now!” – a live musical tribute to John, Paul, George, and Ringo. The look-alike performers go through seven costume changes while performing hits such as “All You Need Is Love” and “Strawberry Fields Forever.” Friday, 8 p.m., St. George Theatre, 35 Hyatt St., two blocks from the Staten Island Ferry at Central Avenue, Staten Island, 718-442-2900, $32.50-$52.50.
