ON AWARDS National Book Award finalists read from their honored works and discuss the experience of being a finalist and the cultural value of awards in general. Readers include Lily Tuck,a winner for her novel “The News from Paraguay”; Christopher Sorrentino,a nominee for his novel “Trance,” and Rene Steinke, nominated for her novel “Holy Skirts.” The discussion will be moderated by the executive director of the National Book Foundation, Harold Augenbraum. BRIDGE TO MANHATTAN Emily Barton reads from her novel “Brookland” (Farrar, Straus & Giroux), about an 18th-century woman in Brooklyn who is consumed with a vision of a giant bridge spanning the East River.
