KINGS OF COOL A discussion at the Japan Society addresses the phenomenon of otaku, Japanese “geek culture.”The panelists are otaku culture expert Lawrence Eng, manga-inspired cartoonist Robert DeJesus, and the organizer of the New York Underground Film Festival, Ed Halter. GODDESS COMPLEX A curator at the Rubin Museum of Art, Jeff Watt,gives a lecture that explores female forms depicting Buddhist, Bon, and Hindu deities in the Himalayas and surrounding regions. The talk is in conjunction with a recently opened exhibit on the same subject.
