PUBLIC DISCUSSION As a part of a yearlong celebration of the Public Theater’s 50th anniversary, two generations of Public Theater playwrights gather to discuss their experiences writing for the Public. Participants include John Guare, Suzan Lori Parks, and Diana Son. The theater’s artistic director, Oskar Eustis, moderates. CRITICS’ CHOICE The next installment of the Review Panel, which gathers art critics to discuss current gallery shows, takes place this week. Critics Bridget Goodbody (TimeOut New York), Peter Plagens (Newsweek), and Stephen Westfall (Art in America) participate. They discuss Eija-Liisa Ahtila’s work at Marian Goodman, Bendix Harms at Anton Kern, Thomas Hirschhorn at Gladstone, and “A True Story Based on Lies” at Cheim & Read. ON SATCHMO Louis Armstrong’s longtime friend and neighbor, Selma Heraldo, discusses Armstrong in the context of his home and community. The discussion with the “Queen of the Block” is followed by a guided tour of the Louis Armstrong House Museum, in which he lived in for almost 30 years.
