ANDROMEDA STRAIN
Ellen Stewart’s stage adaptation of the Greek drama “Perseus” follows the adventures of Zeus’s son, who slew Medusa and married the gorgeous Andromeda. Ms. Stewart, the founder and artistic director of La MaMa Theater, directs the world premiere production, which features a cast of more than 25. JULIE REFIGURED
“Julie,” a reimagining of August Strindberg’s 1888 drama “Miss Julie,” uses shadow puppetry, dance, and mask work to tell the story of an artistocratic woman who has an affair with her father’s butler. Playwright and director David Poole also moved the play’s location to a remote island in the Stockholm archipelago from a Swedish kitchen and incorporated other writings of the period into the original text. The play, which is currently in previews, is produced by Theatre-Arts Connection.
