Grozny is preparing for its first major soccer game in 14 years as Chechen President Kadyrov tries to revive the capital after two wars between rebels and Russian forces. FC Terek Grozny, newly promoted to the Russian Premier League, will play FC Krylya Sovyetov at Grozny’s stadium in the first game of the Russian season Friday night. “It’s a new stadium, completely rebuilt in one year,” the head of the Russian Football Union’s licensing department, Alexei Zakharov, said in a telephone interview from Moscow. “We came away satisfied with the security setup.”
