Brown President Stresses ‘Mutual Respect’ After Bomb

Two “incendiary devices” were thrown early Saturday morning at the house of a person who works at the Jewish students’ organization at Brown University and the Rhode Island School of Design, Brown University’s president said in a statement released yesterday.
In the statement, Brown’s president, Ruth Simmons, said, “There is nothing more unsettling on a campus than to have acts that might seek to spread fear, intimidate, or harm individuals. Swift action to condemn such behavior and strongly restate our values of openness and mutual respect is an essential step at such moments. I ask each member of the community to join me in doing that.”
An e-mail from the interim executive director of the Brown/ RISD Hillel, Megan Nesbitt, said the FBI, Brown Police, and Providence police were investigating two Molotov cocktails thrown at the apartment of Yossi Knafo, an Israel Fellow at the Hillel.
