* President Bush was in Las Vegas, Nev., yesterday for a victory rally with Republican governors. He then went to Reno, Nev., for another rally and ended his day with an appearance in Central Point, Ore. Throughout the day he continued his attack on Senator Kerry’s health care proposal as being “big government.”


* Senator Kerry was also in Las Vegas, Nev., yesterday, addressing the national convention of the American Association of Retired People. Mr. Kerry told the crowd that Mr. Bush has abandoned the middle class and that if Mr. Kerry is elected president, he will strengthen and expand the middle class. Mr. Kerry then joined his wife at a rally in Des Moines, Iowa.


* Vice President Cheney attended rallies in Sarasota, Fla., and Fort Myers, Fla., yesterday and expressed his anger at Mr. Kerry’s remarks about Mr. Cheney’s lesbian daughter during Wednesday’s presidential debate.


* Senator Edwards, the Democratic vice presidential candidate, traveled to West Palm Beach, Fla., and Greensboro, N.C., and addressed similar themes of the Kerry-Edwards ticket strengthening the middle class if they reach the White House.


POLLS


* A Washington Post/ABC News national poll released yesterday had Mr. Kerry and President Bush deadlocked at 48% each, while a Reuters/Zogby poll showed Mr. Bush at 46% and Senator Kerry at 45%. A Rasmussen poll again showed Mr. Bush ahead 48% to 46%.
