Five Dead After Gunman Attack in Missouri

KIRKWOOD, Mo. — A gunman opened fire at a city council meeting last night, killing two police officers and three other people before law enforcers fatally shot him, authorities said.
The two officers and the three people attending the meeting in suburban St. Louis were killed after the gunman rushed the council chambers and began firing as he yelled “Shoot the mayor,” according to a spokeswoman of the St. Louis County Police ,Tracy Panus. It wasn’t immediately clear whether the mayor was hit, but at least two people were. Kirkwood police fatally shot the gunman.
The gunman killed one officer outside the city hall, then walked into the chambers and shot another, Ms. Panus said. He continued firing in the chambers, killing three attendees, and wounding two others.
