Thirty-four members of two drug-dealing organizations who shared one city housing project were arrested yesterday morning for selling crack cocaine.
Manhattan North Narcotics captain Donald Boller said the two groups “had an agreement” to split in half the Lincoln Houses territory, which extends from 132nd to 135th street, between Fifth and Park avenues. Madison Avenue runs through the middle of the housing project, and served as the dealers’ property line.
One group, composed of men in their 30s and 40s, allegedly controlled all drug sales east of Madison Avenue. The other, Mr. Boller said, was made up of men between 17 and 21 years old, who controlled the western portion.
“They had a working relationship between the old crew and the young crew,” Mr. Boller said.
He said the dealers were low-level and allegedly sold between 10 and 20 plastic bags at a time. The investigation began in August of 2007 and the 34 men arrested were charged with either sale of or possession of controlled substances.
