Cell Phones Okayed For Ride to School

The City Council voted yesterday to allow schoolchildren to carry cell phones to and from school. Council members argued that the new policy – which passed by 46 votes to 2 – would promote school safety and family communication, and could help younger students if they are injured or lost. The policy reverses parts of an existing cell phone ban.
