Columbia University students are expected to walk out of class today to join a protest of the war in Iraq.

The rally, which will be followed by a teach-in, is organized by the newly formed Columbia Coalition Against the War, which includes groups such as the Internationalist Socialist Organization, Students for Justice in the Middle East, and the Working Families Party. Organizers predict anywhere between 200 and 600 participants.

A request for a police permit to hold the march along Broadway was for 200 participants. Organizers have called on professors to cancel class and for the university to divest from corporations that have contracts in Iraq.
