Two City Council members and a Council candidate are facing fines from the city’s Campaign Finance Board for a variety of violations.

A council member who represents Clinton Hill and Fort Greene in Brooklyn, Letitia James, was fined $5,700 for spending $9,290 on expenses that the board deemed unrelated to the campaign and “improper,” for failing to provide expenditure documentation requested by the board, and for failing to report or show that she did not use any subcontractors.

A council member who represents parts of Brooklyn, including Canarsie, Flatlands, Madison, and Sheepshead Bay, Lewis Fidler, was fined $275 by the board.

A former council candidate of Brooklyn, Jesse Hamilton, was fined $1,800 for a variety of violations. Mr. Hamilton registered with the board but did not receive any public funds for his campaign.
