Decade-Old Murder Conviction Is Overturned

A man convicted of committing murder in the Bronx in 1997 had the decision vacated yesterday after spending about 12 years in prison, his defense lawyer said.
Judge Denis Boyle deemed that Michael Clancy, who had been convicted of murdering John Buono, was imprisoned for a murder he didn’t commit, Mr. Clancy’s defense lawyer, Ronald Kuby, said.
A friend of the victim, David Pietro, had come forward with testimony that led to the acquittal, Mr. Kuby said.
Calls to the Office of the Bronx District Attorney were not immediately returned.
