New York Downtown Hospital has named a former hospital administrator, Jeffrey Menkes, as its new president and CEO, hospital officials announced yesterday.

Mr. Menkes will assume the role on May 7, replacing Bruce Logan, who will resume his role as the hospital’s chief of medicine.

Mr. Menkes was a health care consultant at PricewaterhouseCoopers. He also served as executive vice president and chief operating officer at Beth Israel Medical Center.

Downtown Hospital treats 33,000 emergency visits each year.
