A man who brazenly stabbed a woman in an East Village supermarket remained on the loose this weekend.
Police are circulating his photo and searching for him after he attacked a former companion and another woman in a Key Food at 4th Street and Avenue A on Friday, and then disappeared.
The man was identified by police on Friday as James Gonzalez, 42, a bald man who had been wearing a green jacket at the time of the stabbing.
According to published reports, Mr. Gonzalez occasionally stayed at a homeless shelter in the Bronx, but police have not been able to locate him there or elsewhere.
He is accused of killing Tina Negron, 24, and injuring another store employee. He had apparently been in a relationship with Ms. Negron previously, and the two had been arguing on the day of the attack, according to published reports.
He had apparently been upset after Ms. Negron broke up with him. Police said yesterday they were continuing the investigation.
