A Queens man has been charged with a hate crime assault for allegedly attacking a 63-year-old Sikh man earlier this week.

The victim, Chadha Bajeet, was accosted by David Wood, 36, on Monday as Mr. Bajeet entered a house of worship, according to the criminal complaint. Mr. Wood allegedly hurled racially tinged insults such as “Arab, go back to your country,” before punching Mr. Bajeet in the face and breaking his nose and jaw, according to the complaint.

If convicted, Mr. Wood faces up to 15 years in prison.
