Detectives are hunting for a suspect who sexually assaulted two female tenants in separate incidents after climbing through windows into their apartments in northern Manhattan, police officials said.

On July 19, the suspect scaled the fire escape of a Washington Heights building and broke into a victim’s bedroom at about 4:45 p.m., police said. The suspect tried to sexually assault the victim, who was in bed, but fled after she screamed, police said.

The next morning at about 5 a.m., the suspect struck again in Washington Heights, police said. He tried to sexually assault the female but was scared off again by her screams, police said.
