Two squatters were killed in a fire in an abandoned two-story house in Staten Island in the early hours of yesterday morning. The cause of the fire has yet to be determined, but police officials say that drug paraphernalia was found inside the house.

A call at midnight to 911 operators reported the fire, which tore through a vacant, boarded-up house on 132 Central Ave. in Staten Island, just off of Bay Street, police said. The two male victims were found dead inside by firefighters after they doused the blaze. Four firefighters suffered minor injuries.

Police say they have yet to identify the two bodies discovered at the scene. Fire marshals are investigating the incident to determine the cause of the fire, which is believed to have originated from inside the property.
