‘ … And a Food Fight for Freedom’
Why does Andrew Wolf protest posting nutritional information [Oped, “… And a Food Fight for Freedom,” March 9, 2007]? He doesn’t have to read the calorie count if he doesn’t feel like it, and he can certainly chow down as much high-fat food as he likes.

‘Army Fires General in Charge of Walter Reed’
A simple solution to the problem with improper care of our veterans and their families has been presented to and ignored by our elected officials [National, “Army Fires General in Charge of Walter Reed,” March 2, 2007].
If the federal government would require a set percent of the military budget, even 1% to 5%, it would produce billions for veteran benefits.
As the military budget expands, as is the case in times of war, the total collected for veteran benefits would be greater and would help prepare for the injured soldiers coming home.
An outside agency similar to the Civilian Review Board should also be set up and staffed with experts in the field to monitor facilities and handle complaints. It is the least we can do for our veterans.
