‘Abbas: Palestinians On Brink of Civil War’
In the “Abbas: Palestinians On Brink of Civil War” article, President Abbas of the the Fatah Party is characterized as “moderate” [Foreign, “Abbas: Palestinians On Brink of Civil War,” June 6, 2007].
Although Fatah may be more moderate than Hamas, the party can hardly be considered “moderate.”
Fatah has never supported a two-state solution and has always supported the “right-of-return” into Israel, thereby negating Israel’s existence. It maintains its own terror organization, namely the Al Aksa Martyrs Brigade. It practices continuous incitement of the population through the government-controlled press and mosques. It considers suicide bombers to be “heroes.” What is so moderate about these policies?
