‘Enduring Wish Could Come True in RFK Bridge’
So the Kennedy family wants the Triborough Bridge named after Robert Kennedy [New York, “Enduring Wish Could Come True in RFK Bridge,” January 8, 2008]?
As the song goes, “Isn’t It Ironic?”
The Triborough Bridge was built by someone who the Kennedy family, and Robert Kennedy’s present-day heirs, would castigate publicly to no end, Robert Moses.
There’s little doubt in my mind that the same members of the Kennedy family who are today heralding the likes of Hugo Chavez, the elected dictator of Venezuela, would be the first ones to lay down in front of one of Moses’s construction crews while building the same bridge they today say is worthy of bearing the family name. It’s an example of political hypocrisy at its finest.
