AUSSIE OUTBACK An Australian couple fell in love with this renovated 900-square-foot apartment because its treetop views reminded them of home. It’s the first home of the couple. The husband is a financier who recently graduated from Wharton. His wife works at an auction house. With southern and western exposures, the unit has a renovated open kitchen with granite counters, a marble bath, parquet floors, and lots of light. The building has a full-time doorman and a concierge, as well as a garden and a roof deck. Corcoran agent Rhea Stein represented the sellers, a trader and his stay-at-home wife who are renovating a home in Westchester. Holly Hunt from Halstead represented the buyers.

UPPER WEST SIDE

176 West 86th Street
One-bedroom, one-bath condominium
Asking price: $485,000
Selling price: $510,000
Time on the market: one week

MUSICAL CHAIRS This 650-square-foot loft-like duplex was sold by a couple who both work in the music business. The wife works for the record label Universal and her husband is a musician. The buyer, a father who bought it for his daughter as an investment property, decided to purchase the unit after fitting under the apartment’s second floor, which houses the bedroom and a small office space and has a ceiling 6 feet high.

“There were several potential buyers but they had to pass on making an offer because they couldn’t stand up straight on the top floor,” said the listing broker, Meredith Fine of BP Vance Real Estate.

The renovated apartment has hardwood floors, a dining area, stainless-steel appliances in the kitchen, a number of built-in units, and a large walk-in closet.

The owners, who are relocating to Tennessee, were in a hurry to move, and accepted the all cash deal, which broke a record for highest purchase price in the building.

Annette Pocica of the Corcoran Group represented the buyer.

PARK SLOPE

411 Fifth Avenue
One-family brownstone
Asking price: $1.3 million
Selling price: $1.3 million
Time on the market: two weeks

SECOND TIME’S A CHARM The sellers put this three-story prewar townhouse circa 1890 on the market two years ago for $1.2 million but later rescinded the offer. This time around the couple, who have two children, decided to move to Westchester after the wife’s mother passed away, said the exclusive broker on the deal, Minette Stokes of the Corcoran Group. The home is in pristine condition, with pocket doors, pier mirrors, parquet floors, and mint-condition wood moldings. With a total of 2,240 square feet, it has an eat-in-kitchen adjacent to a glassed-in greenhouse with a gas-burning fireplace and a master bedroom with a wood-burning fireplace. The basement is finished and the property has three full bathrooms and two half-baths. A family with two children is buying it after they decided to sell their cooperative and buy a house. The mother stays at home and the husband is a lawyer.
