It’s time to play “Let’s Make a Deal.” This year’s NBA draft is weak at the top but strong in the middle, which has high lottery teams like Atlanta, New Orleans, and Portland looking to move down a few spots and perhaps get an extra pick out of it. But assuming no picks change hands, here’s how things might shake out when the draft is held tonight at Madison Square Garden (7:30 p.m., ESPN).

1. MILWAUKEE
NEEDS: Size
PICK: Andrew Bogut, C, Utah. Bogut might not be in the class of no. 1 picks like LeBron James or Tim Duncan, but the 7-foot Australian is a great passer and an underrated athlete who should become a star.

2. ATLANTA
NEEDS: Point guard, center, fans
PICK: Deron Williams, G, Illinois. The Hawks covet Bogut but will take one of two players named Williams instead. It was assumed they would take UNC’s Marvin Williams until Deron blew them away in a workout. He’s lost considerable weight since the college season ended and has drawn comparisons to Jason Kidd – but with a better jump shot.

3. PORTLAND
NEEDS: Outside shooting
PICK: Marvin Williams, F, North Carolina. The 19-year-old Williams doesn’t exactly fill a need here, but he’s too talented to pass up if the Blazers end up keeping the pick. Williams is an inside outside threat who is as comfortable drilling 3-pointers as he is battling on the glass.

4. NEW ORLEANS
NEEDS: Small forward, outside shooting
PICK: Chris Paul, G, Wake Forest. The Hornets don’t need help at the point as urgently as they need it at other spots, but if Marvin Williams is gone, the slick passing Paul is still a major upgrade over Speedy Claxton and Dan Dickau.

5. CHARLOTTE
NEEDS: Guards, depth
PICK: Gerald Green, G, Gulf Shores Academy H.S. (Texas). The Bobcats don’t mind having to wait for Green’s development since they won’t be a contending team for a few more years anyway. The 6-foot-7-inch Green was the top high school player in the country and possesses outstanding shooting range and quickness.

6. UTAH
NEEDS: Point guard, shooting guard
PICK: Raymond Felton, G, North Carolina. This might be a bit high to take Felton because of his erratic jump shot, but the Jazz are desperate for point guard help and there’s slim pickings in the free-agent market.

7. TORONTO
NEEDS: Small forward, center
PICK: Danny Granger, F, New Mexico. Granger has gone under the radar because he plays out West and missed part of the year with an injury, but his toughness and multitude of skills wowed scouts.

8. NEW YORK
NEEDS: Center, backcourt depth
PICK: Channing Frye, C, Arizona. The Knicks are hoping and praying that Frye will still be available when they pick – Utah or Toronto also could take him. No other center looks promising as a Plan B, so the Knicks may need to trade with Utah (who could still grab Felton at no. 8) to be assured of getting their guy.

9. GOLDEN STATE
NEEDS: Frontcourt depth,small forward
PICK: Fran Vazquez, F, Spain. The Warriors would greatly prefer Granger or Frye but will settle for the next big man on their list. The 6-foot-10-inch 23-year-old had a big year in Europe, using his length to crash the boards and finish plays around the rim. He should contribute immediately.

10. L.A. LAKERS
NEEDS: Defense, point guard, center
PICK: Martell Webster, F, Seattle Prep H.S. (Washington). The 6-foot-8-inch Webster only adds to the Lakers’ glut of small forwards, but the young sharpshooter is significantly better than the other players left on the board at this point.

11. ORLANDO
NEEDS: Center, depth
PICK: Sean May, F, North Carolina. May isn’t especially big or athletic but the NCAA tournament’s Most Outstanding Player can bang with the best of them, which should keep the heat off young prodigy Dwight Howard.

12. L.A. CLIPPERS
NEEDS: Perimeter depth, center
PICK: Yaroslav Korolev, F, Russia. The Clippers have a rep for being frugal, but they scout internationally as well as anyone. The 18-year-old Korolev is reminiscent of Toni Kukoc in that he has good ball-handling skills for a player his size. He’s a bit of a project, but they can wait; Korolev could be the first first-rounder to go to the D-League.

13. CHARLOTTE
PICK: Antoine Wright, G, Texas A&M. The Bobcats have focused almost exclusively on the frontcourt in building their team thus far. This draft would be a good time to shift gears by picking some high-scoring guards, and Wright and Green would make a nice tandem.

14. MINNESOTA
NEEDS: Center, wing depth
PICK: Andrew Bynum, C, St. Joseph’s H.S. (Metuchen, N.J.).The combination of Minnesota’s desperate need for a center and Bynum’s talent is too much for Kevin McHale to pass up.The kid is still raw, but he’s also very nimble for a 300-pound 7-footer.

15. NEW JERSEY
NEEDS: Rebounding, shooting
PICK: Charlie Villanueva, F, Connecticut. Villaneuva has a reputation for occasional soft play, but the Nets need help on the glass, and the 6-foot-11-inch Brooklyn native might be the best rebounder in the draft.

16. TORONTO
PICK: Rashad McCants, G, North Carolina. Nobody knows where McCants will go: Teams are both in love with his talent and wary of his head. The talent starved Raptors might be willing to roll the dice.

17. INDIANA
NEEDS: Center, shooting guard PICK: Martynas Andriuskevicius, C, Lithuania. The 7-foot-2-inch project badly needs more strength, but he can really shoot. He could be the next Rik Smits, and the Pacers are deep enough to wait for him to develop.

18. BOSTON
NEEDS: Point guard
PICK: Joey Graham, F, Oklahoma State. Rumors abound that the Celtics will trade Paul Pierce to Portland for the no. 3 pick and draft Chris Paul. If so, Graham, a tough defender who tested as one of the best athletes in the draft, would make perfect sense here.

19. MEMPHIS
NEEDS: Center, point guard
PICK: Hakim Warrick, F, Syracuse. Memphis doesn’t necessarily need another forward, but Warrick’s athleticism and ability to run the floor should mesh well with the Grizzlies’ style.

20. DENVER
NEEDS: Shooting guard
PICK: Roko Ukic, G, Croatia. Ukic is more of a point guard, but at 6 feet 5 inches, he can play either backcourt spot comfortably and would make a nice partner for Earl Boykins and Andre Miller.

21. PHOENIX
NEEDS: Size, backup point guard
PICK: Ike Diogu, F, Arizona State. Diogu is a bit undersized but has drawn comparisons to Malik Rose because of his energy and toughness.

22. DENVER
PICK: Ersan Ilyasova, F, Turkey. The Nuggets are playing with house money on their second pick and might keep the talented 18-year-old in Europe for another year or two. The 6-foot-9-inch wing was regarded as the best prospect in Europe before suffering a serious ankle injury this fall.

23. SACRAMENTO
NEEDS: Size, toughness
PICK: Johan Petro, C, France. After getting abused in the paint during their playoff series against Seattle, Sacramento is desperate to upgrade the frontcourt. At 7 feet 1 inch, Petro is talented and strong, but he doesn’t always play hard, and he appears to lack basketball instincts.

24. HOUSTON
NEEDS: Power forward, perimeter depth
PICK: Chris Taft, F, Pittsburgh. Before the season, Taft was hyped as one of the top two or three picks until a series of lethargic efforts crushed his stock. But he has a prototype NBA body (6 feet 10 inches, 250 pounds) and can score in the post, so he could be a steal.

25. SEATTLE
NEEDS: Depth because everyone is a free agent
PICK: Jarrett Jack, G, Georgia Tech. Since Antonio Daniels will almost certainly be a goner, the Sonics will tab the defense-minded Jack to spell Luke Ridnour.

26. DETROIT
NEEDS: Depth on wings
PICK: Julius Hodge, G, North Carolina State. Hodge is 6 feet 7 inches tall, but is capable of playing the point. His length and toughness should fit in well with Detroit’s half-court style.

27. UTAH
PICK: Andray Blatche, F, South Kent Prep H.S. (Connecticut). The Jazz need a big man, and the 6-foot-11-inch highschooler is both big and skilled. He also suffers from the classic disease of a point guard trapped in a center’s body, which could drive Jerry Sloan insane.

28. SAN ANTONIO
NEEDS: Another ring
PICK: Francisco Garcia, G, Louisville. The 6-foot-7-inch stringbean would give the Spurs another ballhandler who can hit the outside shot, while adding a rare American-bred player to their stable.

29. MIAMI
NEEDS: Power forward, overall depth
PICK: Wayne Simien, F, Kansas.Simien can certainly score, but he’s a bit undersized and was frequently injured in college, so his stock has dropped.

30. NEW YORK
PICK: Ryan Gomes, F, Providence. If the Knicks get Frye early, they be creative with this pick and see if the 6-foot-8-inch Gomes can provide some outside shooting.
