LSU’S ‘BIG BABY’ DAVIS TO ENTER NBA DRAFT LSU center Glen “Big Baby” Davis will skip his senior year to enter the NBA draft.
“After my toughest year, I now feel I am physically and mentally ready for the NBA,” Davis said at yesterday’s announcement.
Coach John Brady said last week the 6-foot-9, 290-pound junior had been meeting with agents and was leaning toward turning pro. Davis averaged 17.7 points and 10.4 rebounds this season, missing several games late in the year because of a strained quadriceps.
He is the only LSU player other than Shaquille O’Neal with career totals surpassing 1,500 points, 900 rebounds and 100 blocks.

BUTCH DAVIS UNDERGOING CHEMOTHERAPY
North Carolina football coach Butch Davis is undergoing chemotherapy after a dentist removed a cancerous growth from his mouth.
“I know people are going to be concerned and everything, but it’s going to be OK,” Davis said yesterday. “We’re going to get through this and we’re going to have a great season next fall.”
Davis said he wasn’t even aware he had a growth when he saw his dentist late last month in Cleveland for a routine cleaning. After the growth was removed, a biopsy diagnosed it as non-Hodgkins lymphoma.

RED SOX’S RAMIREZ AUCTIONING OFF GRILL ON eBAY
How much would you pay to cook up a few steaks on a fancy grill? If you buy it from Manny Ramirez, prepare to shell out about $5,000 or more — but it comes with an autographed baseball.
The Red Sox quirky slugger with the $160 million contract is selling on eBay a JENN-AIR grill he said he bought for about $4,000.
“Manny, get over here now,” teammate David Ortiz bellowed when he saw a television report about Ramirez’s move into the luxury appliance trade before Tuesday night’s game against Minnesota.
Moments later, a smiling Ramirez strolled into the clubhouse, carrying a salad from the players’ kitchen.
“I’m a businessman,” he said with a laugh. “I need the money.”
