QUINN WON’T START FOR BROWNS IN WEEK 1
Quarterback and Notre Dame product Brady Quinn will not start for the Cleveland Browns in the team’s season opener on September 9, according to comments made by Browns general manager Phil Savage to the News Herald newspaper Saturday night. Charlie Frye and Derek Anderson are believed to be front-runners for the position.

HAMM, FOUDY ENTER HALL OF FAME
Mia Hamm entered the National Soccer Hall of Fame with Julie Foudy yesterday. The two were the bedrock of the U.S. team that won two World Cups and two Olympic gold medals from 1991 to 2004.
Hamm, Foudy, Kristine Lilly, Brandi Chastain, and Joy Fawcett formed the “Fab Five” nucleus of perhaps the most storied team in women’s sports history.

GAY WINS GOLD IN 100 METERS
Tyson Gay is the world champion.
In the 100-meters final yesterday, Gay was slower out of the blocks. Once his legs got pumping, he caught and surged past Asafa Powell to claim his first gold medal at a major international championship in 9.85 seconds.
